In a significant anti-Naxal operation, Telangana’s Greyhounds unit, in collaboration with Bijapur police, conducted a successful encounter on the border shared by Telangana and Chhattisgarh. The fierce exchange of fire occurred in the dense Karriguta forests of Pujari Kanker area, resulting in the demise of three Maoists.
The operation yielded a notable haul, including weaponry such as an LMG and AK-47, along with ammunition, retrieved from the encounter site. Among the deceased insurgents, one was identified as Anne Santhosh, also known as Sagar, who held pivotal positions within the Maoist hierarchy, serving as the divisional committee member and commander of the PLGA’s Central Regional Command battalion-2. Santhosh hailed from Ankushapur in Kataram mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, Telangana, underscoring the regional implications of the operation.
