Horror thrillers are currently ruling the OTT space, and audiences are showing immense interest in this genre. Many such films, which saw only a moderate run in theatres, are now recording massive viewership on digital platforms. One such Telugu horror comedy, released in theatres on August 8, has now become a favorite among OTT audiences.
The film, featuring Viva Harsha and comedian Praveen in key roles, along with Krishna Bhagavan, Shining Phani, and KGF Garudaram, received good appreciation for its engaging plot and humor despite its limited theatrical success.
The story follows Parameshwar (Praveen), a struggling software engineer who dreams of opening a restaurant. Short on money, he takes up odd jobs but eventually listens to his friends’ suggestion of making ghost videos for YouTube. To their surprise, the first video goes viral. For the second one, the group ventures into an abandoned bungalow, where they discover an old book. Performing the rituals described in it, they accidentally summon a 200-year-old spirit (Viva Harsha), trapped inside a lemon.
The spirit, driven by uncontrollable hunger, wreaks havoc by devouring everything in sight before possessing one of Parameshwar’s friends. The rest of the film unfolds as Parameshwar and his gang attempt to rid themselves of the spirit, uncover its origins, and discover whether Parameshwar’s dream of opening a restaurant will ever come true.
With its blend of horror, comedy, and suspense, this small-budget entertainer has become a surprise hit on OTT, proving once again that strong content always finds its audience.
