Remarkable escape from a blaze in the ICU of a hospital in Jaipur
In Jaipur, a fire incident occurred at the JK Lon Hospital, the largest government-run hospital for children in Rajasthan. Fortunately, all forty-seven children in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) managed to make a miraculous escape.
The incident took place late on Monday night when smoke from an AC duct line filled the ICU, posing a danger to the children. Parents, along with the help of other staff, acted quickly and rushed the children out of the affected area. To ensure their safety, some window panes were broken to allow the smoke to dissipate, and the power supply in the ICU was switched off.
During the evacuation, some of the children were on oxygen support, while others had intravenous drips. Rescue teams used mobile phone lights to ensure that no child was left behind or stuck in the area affected by the fire.
Following the incident, the hospital was inspected by the medical education principal secretary, T. Ravikanth, on the morning of the next day, Tuesday. As a result of the seriousness of the situation, he ordered an investigation into the cause of the fire to determine the factors that led to the incident and prevent such occurrences in the future.
