Indian movies Sanju, Newton and Gali Guleiyan have been named for the Best Asian Film Award at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA). The Bollywood movies will be in dispute with South Korea’s “1987 When The Day Comes”, “The Bold, The Corrupt And The Beautiful” from Taiwan, China’s “Dying To Survive” and “Youth,” Japanese film “Shoplifters” and “Tombiruo” from Malaysia.
With Sanju and Newton different candidates during the current year’s Best Asian Film Award are: ‘1987 When The Day Comes’, ‘The Bold, The Corrupt And The Beautiful’, ‘Dying To Survive’, ‘Gali Guleiyan’, Shoplifters’, ‘Tombiruo’ and ‘Youth’.” Three Indian movies “Sanju”, “Newton” and “Gali Guleiyan” have been selected for the Best Asian Film Award at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA).
Official Twitter Account of the awards stated that ” Just announced| The nominees for this year’s Best Asian Film Award are: ‘1987 When The Day Comes’, ‘The Bold, The Corrupt And The Beautiful’, ‘Dying To Survive’, ‘Gali Guleiyan’, ‘Newton’, ‘Sanju’, ‘Shoplifters’, ‘Tombiruo’ and ‘Youth’.”Expressed his joy over nominations through Twitter by saying, ” “Gali Guleiyan the journey of this precious film of mine is on….!!”. The victor of the Best Asian Film Award will be dictated by the 2018 Best Asian Film Grand Jury, driven by Oscar and various AFI and AACTA Award-winning performer Russell Crowe, who returns as President.
