Rishab Pant, the young Indian Wicket-Keeper batsman is running out of time to cement his place in the side. The chairman of selectors and the team management were sure that pant will be their first choice Wicket-keeper across all the formats.
After a lukewarm world cup campaign, Rishab pant gone through a rough phase from the windies tour to the recently concluded T20 series against South Africa.
Starting with the T20 series in the West Indies, Pant had a horrible start to tour with a duck in Florida and scored 5 in the second T20, but finished the T20 series on high with a 65 not out in Guyana.
With the 1st ODI washed out, pant managed to make 20 before getting bowled to Brathwaite. The 3rd ODI has been even worse for Rishab Pant as he scored his second first-ball duck of the tour. Completing the ODI series with only 20 runs off two games.
Even the test series wasn’t proved to be a good one for pant. As he made 24 in the first innings in the first test and continued his poor run in the second innings with only 7 runs to his name. Rishab Pant ended the tour with 27 in his lone innings in the second test. pant finished the test series with 58 runs in 3 innings.
The Indian team batting coach, Vikram Rathour said before the T20 series against South Africa that Rishab Pant has to be fearless but not careless.
Even though, pant hasn’t played to his potential in t20 versus south Africa. Pant managed only 23 runs from two innings.
MSK Prasad, said in an interview that the selection committee is looking at the progression of pant and they are likely to groom Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, even there is an option of MS Dhoni return to the side.
