In his upcoming space film, Tom Cruise is “working diligently.”
Tom Cruise is actively working on his planned spacewalk movie and has been collaborating with director Doug Liman, with whom he worked on “Edge of Tomorrow.” While there is no confirmed production start date yet, Cruise has confirmed that the project is progressing. The movie aims to make history by sending Cruise into space, where he would potentially become the first civilian to perform a spacewalk outside the International Space Station.
The film, tentatively titled “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” revolves around a character who, despite being down on his luck, finds himself in a position to save Earth. Plans for the movie were initially announced in 2020, with SpaceX and NASA involved in the project. Doug Liman expressed increased confidence in making a movie in space after filming “Locked Down” in a deserted London during the pandemic.
The same producer who proposed the idea of shooting a movie in outer space also suggested the concept for “Locked Down.” With the support of NASA, SpaceX, and Tom Cruise, Liman became more open to embracing unconventional ideas, leading to the development of the space movie project.
