An APSRTC bus crashed into platform number 12 at Pandit Nehru Bus Stand in Vijayawada on Monday, killing three people, including a bus conductor. Veeraiah from the Guntur-2 depot has been identified as the bus conductor. RTC authorities claim that a brake failure was the cause of the tragedy. Three people were killed: a boy, a mother, and a bus operator. The wounded passengers were sent to adjacent medical facilities.
The APSRTC’s Managing Director, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, assured the media that the incident has been investigated and anyone proven to be fault will suffer the appropriate penalties. The State government has declared that the family of the deceased in the tragedy would get an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakhs apiece, and that the government will pay for the wounded parties’ hospital bills.
