Treasure Found In Chennampalli Fort Revenue Officials In AP

Adoni Revenue Department officials have been carrying out excavations at the Chennampalli Fort, Kurnool district from the past few months. The state media and NGOs across the state alleged that the excavations are a part of a treasure hunt at the fort. The Chennampalli villagers believe that the fort is home to gold ornament (and coins), diamonds and other valuable stones, belonging to the Vijayanagar Empire.

Officials from the Adoni Revenue Department confirmed the discovery of Quartz, Red Chip and Granite in large deposits, in the fort premises, during the excavations. Elephant tusks, three-headed cobra-hood ornament, human remains and other animal remains have been found previously.

The officials stated that the recent discoveries that have a great economic potential, and deeper excavations are underway. The Adoni RDO officials informed the Mines and Geology Ministry on the same.

The villagers are hoping, the discoveries of valuable resources could bring some fortune to their village, Chennampalli, in the form of infrastructural development. Politicians and big shots, in the Kurnool district, are already eyeing on the Chennampalli fort. The villagers are also deeply involved in excavation, at a small scale, in an effort to find gold, diamonds and precious stones.
