Trent Boult declares his intent to play for New Zealand.

New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult has declined a central contract but has committed to being available for the national team on a part-time basis. As a result, New Zealand Cricket has offered him a casual playing agreement.

Boult had mutually released his central contract last year to have the freedom to play in various domestic leagues worldwide and spend more time with his family.

Despite not having a central contract, Boult’s availability for the BlackCaps makes it highly likely that he will represent New Zealand in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India. Head coach Gary Stead expressed optimism about Boult’s participation in the tournament, considering him one of the best ODI bowlers in the world.

In other contract news, fast bowler Adam Milne has been offered a central contract for the first time in five years, while Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, and Blair Tickner have been retained. Players like Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, and Martin Guptill, who requested and were granted releases, have been replaced.

Spinner Ajaz Patel, who played only two Tests during the contract period, has not been included in the 20-man contract list for 2023-24.
