Telangana High Court Grants Permission for SCR Cooperative Elections:

On Monday, Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court granted permission for the general body elections of the South Central Railway Employees Co-operative Credit Society in Secunderabad to proceed.

The polling is scheduled at the headquarters on Tuesday and at line stations on October 12.

Previously, the court had issued a stay on the election following a petition by society member Dandu Ratnakar Kishore Kumar. Kumar had raised concerns about appointing a retired officer from the cooperative department as the returning officer, insisting that only an assistant or deputy registrar should hold that position.

After hearing the submissions from the SCR Employees Co-operative Credit Society on Monday, Justice B. Vijayasen Reddy lifted the stay orders. This decision allows the society’s 42,000 members, spread across five southern states, to participate in the election of 210 delegates.

These delegates will, in turn, vote for 21 directors of the managing committee. The society had filed a writ appeal requesting the court to prioritize the matter. When the case was listed before a division bench, Chief Justice Alok Aradhe noted that a single judge was handling the matter. Following Justice Vijaysen Reddy’s proceedings, the writ appeal was concluded.
