In a case of ammunition theft, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended two suspects on Thursday. Three magazines and sixty live rounds were found by the authorities.
The two individuals detained are Rachamalla Satyanarayana (65), a resident of Bholakpur in Musheerabad, and Nakkeni Ananda Murthy (21), a construction worker from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh.
The GRP claims that on Tuesday, Ananda Murthy took from Platform No. 10 of the Secunderabad railway station the backpack belonging to CRPF constable Sidharth Singh, which contained three magazines and sixty live rounds.
The GRP and RPF established eight teams to look into the matter after receiving the constable’s complaint. This involved a careful analysis of CCTV footage from the Secunderabad railway station and the area around it.
After Ananda Murthy was recognized in the CCTV footage, he was apprehended close to the Gandhi Hospital metro station. But he did not find the pilfered material in his possession.
A GRP official stated, “We apprehended Satyanarayana, who was walking away with the bag, after further examination of the footage from about 100 surveillance cameras,” and added that the stolen material was found on him.
