Animated Film Mahavatar Narasimha Becomes a Record-Breaking Blockbuster, Nears ₹300 Crore Worldwide

0

Indian cinema has seen its fair share of surprise hits, but few can match the sensation created by Mahavatar Narasimha. At a time when animation is often considered a risky genre in India, this regional film has shattered expectations to emerge as a record-breaking blockbuster.

What began as a modest release soon snowballed into a nationwide phenomenon. The film first stunned trade analysts by racing past the ₹100 crore mark, and before the dust could settle, it stormed into the ₹200 crore club. Now, it is eyeing the once unimaginable milestone of ₹300 crore worldwide.

Interestingly, many believed its box office run had peaked after the second week, especially with major pan-India releases like War 2 and Coolie hitting theaters over the Independence Day weekend. But when those films underperformed, Mahavatar Narasimha bounced back stronger, reclaiming shows and screens. Even in its fourth weekend, it is playing to packed houses, underscoring its deep audience connection.

The film’s performance across languages has been equally impressive. The Hindi version alone has grossed over ₹170 crore, while the Telugu version is closing in on ₹50 crore—a rare feat for an animated feature in India. Strong Sunday collections and steady weekday numbers prove that the craze is still going strong.

From a film that released without lofty expectations to one that is now rewriting box office history, Mahavatar Narasimha has redefined what Indian animation cinema can achieve. With its momentum showing no signs of slowing, the film is poised to cross milestones once thought impossible.
