Nagarjuna Opens Up on Playing Villain in Rajinikanth’s Coolie

0

The pre-release event of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie was held in Hyderabad with grandeur and enthusiasm. Speaking at the event, actor Nagarjuna, who plays a key role in the movie, shared several interesting insights about the film and his experience working with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and superstar Rajinikanth.

Nagarjuna began by recalling his career choices: “I did Annamayya right after Ninne Pelladatha. I’ve always enjoyed trying something new. Sometimes, I’ve taken hits, but I keep learning. When Lokesh approached me for a villain role, I was intrigued.”

He praised Lokesh Kanagaraj, calling him “very cool” and persistent: “Even when I was unsure, he kept trying. When he narrated the story, I immediately asked if Rajinikanth had approved it, because the role felt like a lead character. That’s how strong and new the role was.”

Nagarjuna revealed that he listened to the script multiple times, even recording Lokesh’s narration to reflect on it later.“He told me the story at least 6 or 7 times. I gave him a few suggestions, and he took them very sportingly. Eventually, he crafted a fantastic version of the script.”

Talking about the shoot, he said, “We shot a key scene on the second day, and unfortunately, it got leaked. I was disappointed. But Lokesh said, ‘You’ve nailed it!’ That gave me confidence.”

Nagarjuna shared his admiration for Rajinikanth’s simplicity and dedication:

“Rajini sir still rehearses scenes with passion, especially the climax. We shot for 17 days on a ship. At the end, he handed out gift packets to 300 crew members, asking them to take something home for their children. That’s the greatness of Rajinikanth.”

He also spoke about the experience of working with the rest of the cast:

“It’s always a pleasure working with Sathyaraj garu. People say I’m fit, but you should see him! Shruti has been amazing, and Shobhin’s performance in the ‘Monica’ song had us all laughing.”

On a lighter note, Nagarjuna joked: “Rajini sir once said—if he had seen how I’d be in this film, he would’ve said no to casting me!”

He concluded by saying that playing a villain in Coolie has been a refreshing experience and one of the most exciting phases of his career.

Akkineni’s Manam to Release in Japan on August 8

Tollywood Classic Manam to Release Theatrically in Japan on August 8

Cult Telugu drama Manam is all set for a grand theatrical release in Japan on August 8, 2025 — over a decade after its original release in 2014.

Starring three generations of the Akkineni family — the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), Nagarjuna, and Naga ChaitanyaManam is remembered not only for its unique storytelling but also as the last film of ANR, making it a landmark project in Tollywood history.

 Why Japan, and Why Now?

The answer lies in the growing love for Indian cinema in Japan, especially films that highlight family emotions and cultural depth. After the success of films like RRR, Japanese audiences are increasingly embracing Indian movies that focus on relationships and sentiment, not just action.

More specifically, Nagarjuna has built a loyal fanbase in Japan, particularly after his appearance in Brahmastra. Fans there fondly call him “Nag Sama” — “Sama” being a respectful honorific in Japanese, reserved for people of divine or revered status.

 Special Fan Connect

To mark the release, Nagarjuna will join his Japanese fans via a live video call on release day, a gesture that has further excited his overseas admirers.

 A Rare International Revival

While international releases of Indian films are not new, re-releasing an older regional classic in a foreign theatrical market is a rare and bold move. However, the signs are promising — Manam recently had a limited re-release in Hyderabad and played to full houses, proving its emotional resonance remains strong.

What’s Next?

If Manam performs well in Japan, more films from the Akkineni vault — such as Hello Brother, Ninne Pelladatha, and Nuvvu Vastavani — could follow suit, further deepening the cultural bridge between Tollywood and Japan.

Gowtam Tinnanuri Confirms Kingdom Sequel, OTT Prequel & Plans for Part 3

After the theatrical release of Kingdom, director Gowtam Tinnanuri has finally opened up about the ambitious roadmap he envisions for the franchise. Best known for his emotionally rich films like Jersey and Malli Raava, Gowtam was notably absent from Kingdom’s pre-release promotions, reportedly putting the final touches on the film’s edit. Now, he’s speaking out—and he has big plans.

From the outset, Kingdom was conceived as a two-part story. The film ends by teasing a powerful new character—Sethu, the elder brother of the main antagonist. In a recent interaction, Gowtam confirmed that Kingdom Part 2 will focus on the explosive rivalry between Suri (Vijay Deverakonda) and Sethu.

 But first: an OTT spin-off

Instead of diving straight into Part 2, Gowtam has decided to first create a standalone OTT prequel film centered on Sethu’s character. He explained that several subplots were trimmed from Part 1, and this spin-off will give viewers deeper context—setting the stage perfectly for Part 2.

While the actor playing Sethu remains a mystery, producer Naga Vamsi confirmed that a well-known star has been cast for the role.

Early talks for a third film

Vijay Deverakonda revealed that the team is already in early discussions for a potential Part 3. If it materializes, this installment will serve as a prequel set in the 1920s, exploring the roots of the Kingdom and its rise to power.

Gowtam’s immediate lineup

Before returning to Kingdom’s world, Gowtam is set to release Magic, a musical drama, and is also working on a romantic love story, while Vijay completes his current projects.

The Kingdom franchise may have received mixed reactions so far, but these interconnected storytelling plans—blending theatrical sequels and OTT content—show serious ambition. With expanding characters and layered world-building, the franchise is shaping up to be one of Telugu cinema’s most unique cinematic universes.

But even before the film’s release, Jr NTR’s future projects are grabbing headlines. The latest buzz? A potential entry into the Kantara franchise.

According to industry rumors, NTR is being considered for Kantara 3, the next installment in the cult Kannada series directed by Rishab Shetty. Thammudu OTT Release: Cold Response Mirrors Box Office Flop

OTT: Nithiin’s Thammudu Gets Cold Reception on Netflix After Theatrical Flop

Nithiin’s much-hyped action-emotional drama Thammudu, which released in theatres on July 4, 2025, unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations at the box office. Directed by Venu Sriram, known for Vakeel Saab, the film was expected to deliver emotionally charged storytelling but ended up being a commercial disappointment for both Nithiin and producer Dil Raju.

Following its underwhelming theatrical run, Thammudu recently premiered on Netflix in Telugu and other South Indian languages. Sadly, the film’s fate on OTT seems to mirror its theatrical response. Viewers across social media have pointed out that the film lacks freshness, suffers from a slow narrative, and fails to engage emotionally.

The film also marked the Tollywood debuts of Sapthami Gowda and Swasika, while veteran actress Laya made a comeback. Though their presence generated some curiosity, critics and viewers alike noted that their roles were underutilized. Among the cast, Varsha Bollamma stood out with a decent performance, though it wasn’t enough to lift the overall film.

 What’s Next?

All eyes are now on Nithiin’s next film, Yellamma, which is already creating buzz. The project is being helmed by Venu Yeldandi of Balagam fame and has the potential to restore faith in Nithiin’s career choices.

For now, Thammudu joins the list of recent films that have struggled both theatrically and digitally — a reminder that star power alone isn’t enough without strong content.

They Call Him OG: Firestorm Breaks Records, Fans Speak Out

Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG Fires Up Fans With Firestorm — But Fans Want More Than Just a Song

They Call Him OG, the much-awaited action drama starring Pawan Kalyan, is all set for a grand theatrical release on September 25, 2025. The film recently dropped its first single, “Firestorm,” which quickly turned into a social media juggernaut. Within 24 hours, the track became the most-liked Telugu song, cementing the film’s explosive hype.

While fans are vibing to Thaman’s electrifying composition, they’ve also voiced two major requests to the makers.

 1. Demand for Official OG Merchandise

The fanbase is urging the production team to roll out official OG merchandise — including T-shirts, caps, keychains, and posters. With the film’s frenzy already at a high, this move could emotionally connect with fans while boosting brand visibility and revenue. It’s a win-win — commercially smart and culturally impactful.

 2. Concerns Over Influencer Promotions

The second request is a bit more critical. Fans are disappointed with the influencer marketing choices for promoting Firestorm. Many feel that some of the chosen influencers lack credibility or relevance and don’t reflect the grandeur of a Pawan Kalyan film.

While fans are not opposed to the idea of influencer promotion, they believe a more curated and high-impact campaign would better align with the film’s stature.

The message is clear — OG is not just another film. It carries massive expectations, and fans want every detail — from songs and marketing to presentation — to reflect its blockbuster potential.

 About the Film

They Call Him OG features Priyanka Mohan, Emraan Hashmi, Prakash Raj, Arjun Das, and Sriya Reddy in key roles. Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari, the film boasts music by Thaman and promises to be a high-octane action drama with mass appeal.
