Madras HC Sends Notice to Netflix & Tarc Studios Over Nayanthara Wedding Docu Copyright Row

Nayanthara’s fairytale turns into a legal battle.

The much-hyped wedding documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale is once again in legal trouble. On July 8, 2025, the Madras High Court issued notices to Netflix and Tarc Studios after a copyright infringement plea was filed by AP International, the production house behind Chandramukhi (2005).

According to AP International, the documentary illegally featured behind-the-scenes footage from the Rajinikanth starrer without their consent. This, they argue, occurred despite issuing prior legal notices demanding ₹5 crore in damages.

The court has now directed all involved parties to respond within two weeks.

But that’s not all. The documentary already faces another copyright lawsuit from Wunderbar Films, the production company owned by actor Dhanush. They claim the film used a three-second clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) without proper authorization.

In that petition, Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, and their production house, Rowdy Pictures, have also been named, with ₹10 crore in compensation being sought.

From a dreamy love story to a courtroom drama, Nayanthara’s documentary has now become the center of two major copyright battles.

Vijay Deverakonda, known for his candid nature and strong fan following, has finally addressed the controversy surrounding the “The Vijay Deverakonda” tag used during the promotions of Liger. The title sparked wide-ranging opinions online—while some fans liked the dramatic flair, others criticized it heavily, making him the subject of trolling.

In a recent interview, the Arjun Reddy actor set the record straight, clarifying that the title wasn’t his idea.

“I never wanted a tag. It was just a marketing thing. I didn’t ask fans to call me that,” he said.

Vijay pointed out that many stars in the industry carry titles—like Universal Star, People’s Star, and others—without facing the same level of scrutiny.

“Those who came before me and those after me have had such labels. But somehow, I ended up being the only one trolled so much for it,” he remarked.

Acknowledging that some of his fans found “The” catchy, Vijay admitted it didn’t personally resonate with him.

“I don’t want to be remembered because of a tagline. Call me Vijay Deverakonda, that’s enough,” he stated firmly.

Following the backlash, he requested his team to remove “The” from all promotional content going forward.

Beyond the tag talk, Vijay also opened up about the personal struggles he’s faced over the years.

“From a young age, I’ve had my share of tough times. I take every setback as something to grow from—not something to hide from.”

With this honest and grounded response, Vijay once again reinforced that he values authenticity over image, choosing to let his performances define him.
