Megastar Chiranjeevi’s film Bholaa Shankar, which was the Vedalam Telugu remake, turned out to be a major flop at the box office. The movie, directed by Meher Ramesh and based on Ajith’s Tamil blockbuster Vedalam, failed to make an impact despite high expectations.
But here’s a surprising twist — Powerstar Pawan Kalyan was actually the first choice for the Vedalam Telugu remake. This interesting revelation was made by veteran producer AM Rathnam during a press meet for Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
Rathnam shared, “After Kushi and Bangaram, we planned a film called Satyagrahi with Pawan Kalyan as director, but it didn’t happen. Later, we considered remaking Vedalam in Telugu with Pawan Garu.”
He further explained that due to election commitments, the project got delayed. Pawan Kalyan had wanted Rathnam’s son, Jyothi Krishna, to direct the remake. However, Jyothi was already committed to Gopichand’s Oxygen, and Rathnam didn’t permit him to take on another film at the time.
Interestingly, Jyothi Krishna is now directing Hari Hara Veera Mallu, and Rathnam praised his son’s efforts, saying even Pawan Kalyan was impressed by his work.
