15 Years of Vedam: Krish Shares Wild Story Behind Viral Anushka Shetty Hoarding
Released on June 4, 2010, the path-breaking Telugu film Vedam — starring Allu Arjun, Anushka Shetty, and Manchu Manoj — celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Directed by Krish, the film redefined storytelling in Tollywood with its hyperlink narrative and emotionally layered performances, becoming a cult favorite.
To mark the milestone, director Krish shared a jaw-dropping memory from the film’s promotions. “We had put up a massive hoarding of Anushka Shetty in a bold and seductive pose near Punjagutta circle,” Krish recalled. “The response was so crazy that it caused over 40 road accidents in that area. Eventually, the police stepped in, and we had to take it down due to multiple complaints. That’s the kind of stunning impact Anushka made with her role.”
Vedam’s legacy lives on not just for its bold themes and performances but also for how it dared to do something completely fresh for Telugu cinema at the time.
Interestingly, Anushka Shetty and Krish have reunited after 15 years for their upcoming rural crime thriller “Ghaati,” slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. In this gritty drama, Anushka takes on the titular role of a weed trader, promising another intense and memorable performance.
