The nationwide lockdown in India meant the closing of almost every other business except that of daily essentials. As a result, the economy has been suffering ever since the lockdown has been put into effect.
In the video conference with the Chief Ministers of various states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the fact that the economy has been suffering because of the lockdown, and that it needs to be given importance as well.
While the lockdown has helped save thousands and lakhs of lives in India, it has depleted the country’s economy. Even if the lockdown is lifted, life will not go back to the way it was, but the economy can be revived a little.
We have to now see what steps the government will take to make sure that both, lives and the economy is safe.
