Vijay Sethupathi’s Pick: SRK Trump’s Aamir Khan?
Vijay Sethupathi, widely acclaimed for his exceptional performances in Indian cinema, is poised to make a significant impact on the silver screen as he takes on the role of a villain in the upcoming film “Jawan,” slated for release on December 15. This addition further enriches his impressive filmography, which boasts iconic characters in movies such as “Vikram,” “Master,” “Vikram Vedha,” “Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal,” and many others. His foray into the world of OTT content with “The Family Man,” created by Raj & DK, also received high praise. Interestingly, “Jawan” marks the Hindi film debut of the South Indian superstar Nayanthara, directed by Atlee and featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
For those who may not be aware, Vijay Sethupathi’s entry into Bollywood took place with the crime drama “Mumbaikar,” which premiered on JioCinema in June this year. However, what remains lesser-known is that he was initially set to make his Bollywood debut alongside Aamir Khan in “Laal Singh Chaddha,” which was released last year.
Initially, Sethupathi enthusiastically accepted Aamir’s offer for the role after their meeting in Chennai. He was deeply impressed by Aamir’s storytelling skills and readily agreed. However, unforeseen circumstances, including the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupted their plans. After the lockdown, Vijay Sethupathi found himself heavily occupied with five Telugu projects at different production stages, rendering it unfeasible to accommodate “Laal Singh Chaddha” in his schedule.
