Vikramarkudu’s Iconic “Vastava… Kedak Vastava” Star Meghana Naidu: A Then & Now Story
Director S. S. Rajamouli has never missed the mark with his mass entertainers, and Vikramarkudu (2006) remains one of his most celebrated action dramas. Headlined by Ravi Teja in a dual role and Anushka Shetty, the film also featured memorable performances by Prakash Raj, Rajeev Kanakala, and Brahmanandam. But it was the special song “Vastava… Kedak Vastava” that introduced audiences to Meghana Naidu, whose graceful moves and screen presence left a lasting impression.
Hailing from Vijayawada, Meghana moved to Mumbai for her education before pivoting to modelling and then acting. She debuted at 18 in the Telugu film Premasakshi, which failed to make waves. Subsequent roles in Prithvi Narayana and Vendimabbulu similarly went under the radar.
Despite later appearances in Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Malayalam projects, it was her one-off item number in Vikramarkudu that catapulted her to fame. Although she didn’t receive the film offers she anticipated, she went on to do standout special songs in Pandu Rangadu (with Balakrishna), 100% Love (with Naga Chaitanya), and Pilla Zamindar (with Nani).
In 2016, Meghana Naidu married Portuguese tennis player Luis Miguel Reis. Today, she’s stepped back from mainstream cinema and engages a sizable fan base through her vibrant social media presence, sharing glimpses of her life beyond the screen.
