Vizag Zoo Introduces a 2.5-Year-Old Lioness to Its Wildlife Family:
The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam has added a new member to its wildlife family—a 2.5-year-old lioness from Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat. After completing the required quarantine period, the lioness was released into its day kraal.
The formal release of the lioness into its enclosure was conducted by Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Srikantha Natha Reddy of Visakhapatnam. The event was attended by IGZP curator Nandani Salaria, Deputy Conservator of Forests, and Mangamma. Notably, school students had the opportunity to witness this moment, adding to their excitement.
This young lioness is stepping in to fill the void left by the passing of two older lionesses at the zoo due to old age. The addition of this new member is a significant development for the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park as it contributes to the park’s efforts to maintain a diverse and healthy population of wildlife.
