War 2, the highly anticipated spy action thriller from Yash Raj Films, is all set to release on August 14. Starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr., the film is part of YRF’s growing spy universe and marks the Bollywood debut of Telugu superstar NTR.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is being mounted on a massive scale, and the makers are pulling out all stops to ensure it gets the widest release ever for a Hindi film. Instead, only a short glimpse of the song will be unveiled on YouTube, with the entire sequence reserved exclusively for theatres.
According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, Aditya Chopra is aiming to replicate a strategy he previously employed with songs like Kajra Re (Bunty Aur Babli) and the title track of Dhoom 3, where the full versions were unveiled only in cinemas. The idea is to build curiosity and drive footfall to theatres, keeping the dance number as a premium theatrical experience.
A source quoted in the report said: “Aditya Chopra wants people to experience the magic of seeing Hrithik Roshan and NTR dancing together only on the big screen. The visuals are stunning, and he wants audiences to be surprised when they see them in theatres.”
