War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is gearing up to redefine the spy thriller genre with its intense narrative and high-stakes action. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is set to be the next major entry in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes Pathaan, Tiger, and War.
While the trailer dazzled fans with adrenaline-pumping visuals and powerful face-offs, it was the emotional “spy oath” in the opening 50 seconds that stood out. Screenwriter Shridhar Raghavan revealed that this solemn pledge, recited by both protagonists, is more than just a dramatic element — it’s a symbolic cornerstone of the entire spy franchise.
“We wanted to open War 2 with something deeper — a moral spine to the action. This oath binds all our heroes with a shared mission to protect the nation above all else,” Raghavan explained.
Interestingly, this spy oath won’t be limited to War 2. Going forward, every agent introduced in the YRF spy saga — whether it’s Kabir (Hrithik), Tiger (Salman Khan), Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), or any new character — will take this pledge. It acts as a unifying element, giving emotional weight to the action-packed universe.
Kiara Advani joins the cast as the female lead, adding more star power to this much-awaited film. Backed by Yash Raj Films, War 2 will hit theatres on August 14, 2025, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, with a grand IMAX release planned.
