Deepika Padukone Replaced in Prabhas ‘Spirit’—Here’s What Went Wrong
Deepika Padukone, one of India’s top actresses, was initially roped in to star opposite Prabhas in Spirit, directed by Animal fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga. However, she is no longer a part of the high-profile project.
While Deepika recently joined Allu Arjun and Atlee’s pan-Indian film, speculation swirled about her exit from Spirit. Now, credible sources close to the project have revealed the real reason behind the casting change.
Reportedly, Deepika’s team had put forth several conditions regarding remuneration, working hours, and scheduling — all of which were agreed upon by the filmmakers. However, one particular demand became a deal-breaker: Deepika’s refusal to deliver dialogues in Telugu.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his emphasis on authenticity, was reportedly not comfortable with this request. He believed the lead actress should speak Telugu in a Telugu-language film, especially opposite a star like Prabhas. This led to her being replaced by rising star Tripti Dimri, who is now confirmed to play the female lead.
Tripti, who gained national recognition for her performance in Animal, is seen as a strong fit for the role and is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the film.
With Spirit being one of the most anticipated pan-India projects in Prabhas’ lineup, this casting shakeup has generated even more curiosity around the film.
