West Indies are set to play three ODIs and two Test during their tour of Bangladesh next month, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed.
As per the draft schedule, the ODI series will start on January 20 and the first two matches will be played in Dhaka before the final match in Chattogram on January 25. The first Test in Chattogram will start from February 3 while the second Test will be played in Dhaka from February 11.
The West Indies cricket board has approved in principle the tour of Bangladesh, subject to the finalization of medical and logistical details.
“The approval in principle was made following a recommendation from CWI’s Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), having received a detailed report from the pre-tour visit of Bangladesh by CWI Director and Member of the CWI and ICC MAC, Dr. Mansingh and Security Manager, Paul Slowe,” stated a statement from CWI.
“CWI will continue discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) to fine-tune the various arrangements in order to ensure the health and safety of the players and team management unit,” it added.
The series, if it goes ahead, will mark Bangladesh’s first international cricket since Zimbabwe toured the country in February and March earlier this year before the outbreak of coronavirus.
