Woman breastfeeds a young deer in Rajasthan

A photo depicting a Bishnoi community woman breastfeeding a deer went viral after it was shared by renowned Chef Vikas Khanna.
The picture was shared by Vikas Khanna on photo-sharing site, Instagram. His Instagram post received 15,000 likes within hours with people saluting the ‘motherhood’ of the lady pictured.
Sharing the picture, Vikas Khanna quoted the woman ‘The greatest form of Humanity is compassion’. Vikas Khanna is New York-based Chef and the judge of Master Chef of India. Vikas Khanna also shared that the woman in the picture told him, she had breastfed many injured baby fawns in Rajasthan.
The woman is seen dressed in a typical Rajasthani attire and breastfeeding the fawn. Khanna said, ‘I shot the picture in a village in Rajasthan, where the Bishnois reside in large numbers’.
The Bishnoi sect was known to be dating back 500 years. The people of this sect are well-known for their extreme compassion for nature and animals. One of their most important religious beliefs is, treating all living things equally.
However, the authenticity of the picture is yet to be confirmed.
