Officials have reported that in the last 24 hours, Bihar has experienced lightning strikes resulting in the unfortunate deaths of 18 individuals. These incidents occurred during the ongoing monsoon season. The fatalities were distributed across various districts, with five in Rohtas, four in Arwal, three in Saran, two each in Aurangabad and East Champaran, and one each in Banka and Vaishali. To assist the families affected by these tragic events, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh for each victim’s family.

The disaster management agency has been actively urging people, particularly those residing in rural areas, to refrain from venturing into agricultural fields or seeking shelter under trees, electric poles, or temporary clay houses during rainfall. In addition, they have cautioned urban residents to avoid standing near windows, touching electrical appliances such as refrigerators and ACs, and going up to building rooftops during rainy periods.
