As many as 3,000 properties will be demolished as per the new plan devised by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation – GHMC. The officials of the municipal corporation body stated that the task of the widening of roads has been entrusted with GHMC circle offices, and accordingly special teams have been formed to identify bottle-neck areas that need immediate widening.
‘Frankly speaking, not even half the length of roads in GHMC limits are capable of handling the traffic in Hyderabad. Over 9,100 km of roads fall under the purview of GHMC. We have identified close to 3,000 properties that would be demolished in the road widening exercise.
The road-widening scheme will be carried out in multiple phases. In the first phase, 34 critically congested roads and junctions will be widened. 216 properties in the Kothapet-Nagole route, 230 properties in the Balanagar – Naraspur X Roads route, and 281 properties in the Golnaka – Amberpet will be demolished in this drive,’ said a GHMC official.
369 properties along Banjara Hills Rd No.1 and 58 properties along Banjara Hills Rd No. 4 will be demolished in road widening. The government announced special incentives for the special teams involved in this mega project.
