According to the latest update, the Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman’ mother Kareema Begum breathed her last in Chennai today on 28th December. Details of the cause of Kareema Begum’ demise are yet to be known. The composer AR Rahman himself confirmed the same by posting a picture of his mother on his social media page. It is being said that Kareema Begum passed away due to ill health.
The music composer was very close to his mother Kareema Begum and in one his interviews, he had revealed that it was his mother who had realized that he would take up music in the future.
About his mother AR Rahman had said that she was way above him in the way her mind worked and how she took decisions. It was his mother who had made him leave school in 12 Class and pursue a career in music.
A R Rahman’s mother was married to the Tamil and Malayalam film music composer Rajagopala Kulashekharan. She had been a huge pillar of strength to the music composer A R Rahman and her daughters ever since they lost their father at a very young age. Rahman, who was born Dileep, was raised by his mother after his father died when he was only nine years old. Her last rites will be performed today evening in Chennai.
