The recent row that raged over Nandi Awards had a great impact on the Telugu Film industry. Telugu Filmmakers comprising of producers, directors and other technicians have come forward alleging that the Nandi Awards were politically motivated and held Nandamuri Balakrishna responsible for the prejudice. They also claimed that it was Balakrishna who had created this ruckus from behind. Few people have even gone to an extent and labeled Nandi Awards as ‘Cycle Awards’, while others said they were ‘Kamma (Chowdary) Awards. Many people expressed that the Nandi Awards committee has shown prejudice and have ignored the Mega family completely.

It is no secret that the AP Govt.’s image has been tarnished by the Nandi Awards controversy. It is heard that if the controversy continues for another couple of days, the AP State Government might well take a U-Turn on Nandi Awards. Sources close to Chief Minister’s office stated that ‘the government is likely to withdraw Nandi Awards completely forever, which means there would be no further Nandi Awards from here on’.

The Tollywood personnel who are aware of the Government’s recent decision were shocked. Many film personnel is hoping for the Nandi Awards controversy to subside before the government takes any drastic step.
