AP Netanna Sevalo Scheme: ₹25,000 Annual Assistance for Handloom Families from August 7

In a major welfare initiative for the handloom sector, the Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch the AP Netanna Sevalo Scheme on August 7. Under the scheme, every eligible handloom family will receive ₹25,000 annually through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The government has already issued guidelines for implementing the scheme, which aims to strengthen the livelihood of traditional weavers across the state.

₹25,000 Directly to Eligible Families

Under the AP Netanna Sevalo Scheme, financial assistance will be credited directly to the bank accounts of eligible handloom families once every year.

A key feature of the scheme is that the number of looms or the number of weavers in a family will not affect eligibility. Each eligible family will receive a single annual financial assistance of ₹25,000.

Who Is Eligible?

According to the guidelines, the scheme is intended for:

• Families currently engaged in handloom weaving.
• Families living below the poverty line (BPL).
• Eligible beneficiaries identified through the government’s verification process.

The Andhra Pradesh government estimates that around 51,952 handloom families will benefit in the first phase.

How Beneficiaries Will Be Selected

To ensure transparency, beneficiary lists will be prepared through Village and Ward Secretariats.

The process will include:

• Identification of new eligible beneficiaries.
• Correction of errors in beneficiary details.
• Display of provisional lists for public verification.
• Final approval of beneficiaries by the respective District Collectors.

Officials indicated that the list prepared for this year’s free electricity scheme for handloom workers will serve as the primary reference.

Objective of the Scheme

The government says the scheme is aimed at reducing production costs and improving the financial stability of handloom weavers.

The assistance can be utilized for:

• Purchasing yarn.
• Repairing looms.
• Setting up new looms.
• Buying dyes and other raw materials.

The initiative is expected to help traditional weavers compete more effectively with the powerloom sector.

Additional Support for Weavers

Apart from the AP Netanna Sevalo Scheme, the government is already providing:

• Free electricity up to 200 units per month for eligible handloom weavers.
• Free electricity up to 500 units per month for eligible powerloom workers.

Additionally, eligible weavers are being issued e-Pehachan Cards jointly by the Central and State Governments, enabling easier access to various welfare schemes.
