The explosion took place beneath the area of the Port Authority bus terminal and New York’s Times Square had led to the arrest of one suspect and a mass evacuation of the subway system in midtown Manhattan.

Though the injuries were small and minor in nature, it is reported several people were hurt in the explosion. The New York Police Department on Monday confirmed shortly before 8 AM that officers received numerous calls about the reports of an explosion at 42nd Street and 8thAvenue.

The reaction is centered in the area of the Port Authority bus terminal, leading to delays along the subway lines that pass beneath the bus terminal. Some passengers were asked to leave the place as a precautionary measure.Bangladeshi Arrested in ManhattanTerror Attack

After examining the ground situation, the New York City Police Commissioner has called the subway pipe-bombing as a terror-related incident. Police officials have identified the suspect as a 27-year-old Akayed Ullah, who was inspired by the Islamic State ideology and is said to be Bangladeshi descent, who lives in Brooklyn.

While Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill labeled it as an attempted terror attack and thanked God for the offender did not achieve his ultimate goals.
