Bay of Bengal Low-Pressure System Expected to Bring Heavy Rainfall to Andhra Pradesh:
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the formation of a low-pressure area in the Northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. This system is expected to intensify and move in a west-northwest direction towards the southern coast of Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh, potentially bringing heavy rainfall to the state, particularly its coastal regions starting from Wednesday.
IMD has issued a yellow alert for all coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh, including Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Krishna, in anticipation of the forthcoming weather conditions.
The monsoon has exhibited increased activity across most parts of Andhra Pradesh this year, nearly compensating for the rainfall deficit observed in August. Over the past 24 hours until 8:30 AM on Tuesday, notable rainfall measurements include 6.8 centimeters in Palakonda, 6.5 centimeters in Jiyyammavalasa, 5.4 centimeters in Narasapuram, 4 centimeters in Velairpad, 3.9 centimeters in Veeraghattam, 3.3 centimeters in Chintoor, 3.3 centimeters in Anakapalle, and 3 centimeters in Visakhapatnam.
