These fake links are becoming more and more tribal viral on WhatsApp. Another recent link is also going viral. A message titled ‘Change WhatsApp theme from default green to pink’ appears. However, cyber experts say that you should not click on these links under any circumstances.
Cybercriminals can hack your phone if you click on that link. You may miss the opportunity to log in to your WhatsApp account. Cybersecurity expert Rajasekhar Rajahariya said that all the information like photos, messages and contacts in the phone would go into the hands of cybercriminals. Jiten Jain, director of cybersecurity firm Voyager Infosec, said that the official WhatsApp app should be downloaded from the Google Playstore and Appstore. Apps like Pink WhatsApp, Gold WhatsApp and others are said to be fake. WhatsApp said in a statement that it should be vigilant against fake apps.
