Expect higher Electricity bill for Consumers from April 1 in Telangana


Users are expected to pay higher electricity bills from April 1 as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is considered to have accepted the decision of enhancing the tax. The amended tax will apply to domestic, commercial and industrial and is expected to be productive from April 1, 2020. It is determined that the increase in the prices may fall between 8 percent to 10 percent for domestic users having power consumption between 100 units-1000 units per month. While the tariff is said to be higher for commercial and industrial categories.

The Chief Minister is said to have decided to this effect in the review meeting held at Pragati Bhavan on Friday. The proposals in tariff hike along with aggregate revenue requirement (ARR) are likely to be submitted to the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC) today by the Northern and Southern power distribution companies. The discoms told the chief minister that the southern power companies are incurring a loss of 39 paise on every unit that is being supplied and the northern power companies are incurring 17 paise loss. Meanwhile, the chief minister in the review meeting has assured us to provide Rs 10,000 crore to power companies in the upcoming budget.

19 Dead After Container Comes Off Truck, crashes with Passenger Bus In TN


Over 19 people were dead and several are feared ensnared in debris following the bus in which they were traveling in was hit by a container that had come off a truck approaching from the opposite side on a roadway in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, the police stated. Twenty-three were injured. They have been taken to different hospitals.

The Kerala government-run Volvo bus that can seat over 50 people were going to Ernakulam from Bengaluru in Karnataka, state Transport Minister AK Saseendran told reporters.

The police also stated the figure of dead is expected to rise. reports said the tyre of the truck outburst while it was in speed, and the container got separated and moved on to the road before crashing with the bus.

Rescuers at the accident site are trying to find survivors in the debris. the driver of the truck that was coming from Coimbatore is on the run, the police said.

“All possible relief measures will be taken in cooperation with the government of Tamil Nadu and the District Collector of Tirupur,” Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office said.

CM KCR to Begin JBS-MGBS Metro Passageway on Feb 7th


Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be initiating the most anticipated JBS-MGBS Metro extent on February 7th at 4 pm. on twitter post, Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister KT Rama Rao tweeted that Hon’ble CM Sri KCR Garu will begin the JBS-MGBS Metro train on 7th Feb at 4 pm.


This will take the whole range of Hyderabad Metro to 69 KM. The test runs on the route had begun on November 25 last year, which will be certainly inaugurated for the citizens from February 7th (Friday). One woman laborer was dead, others injured in an accident at Apur village


One woman laborer was dead and 15 others wounded in a road collision at Apur village of Athmakur Mandal in the region on Tuesday night. The dead were recognized as B Lingamma (60), agriculture. According to police, the death was caused due to overturning of the tractor in which the laborers were traveling. The tractor overturned while escaping two vehicles coming in the opposite direction. According to Athmakur ( S) SI Balu Naik, on Monday morning, as many as 35 agriculture labors of Athmakur ( S) Mandal went to Machenepally of Nutankal Mandal in the district to pluck chillis in an agriculture land and the tractor in which they were traveling was overturned at Apur while returning home in the evening. All the 15 injured were shifted to the Government Area Hospital in Suryapet for treatment.

The State transport administration is conspiring to make helmet compulsory for the pillion motorists making the traffic rules tougher to prevent the death caused by road accidents. An awareness rally was also taken out on Sunday on the use of helmet by pillion riders marking the week-long 31st national road safety week celebrations. Soon challans will be imposed by the traffic police on the pillion riders who don’t wear a helmet. However, a few of the motorists who did not wear a helmet while pillion riding has already been issued challans. Some of them also took to social media on the new rule that is yet to be announced. On Sunday, Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar took part in a ceremony at Khammam on road safety where he asked the two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and people traveling in cars must wear seat belts.

9 died, 41 injured as bus fall off from bridge in Odisha


In a terrible event, nine people died, and 41 others packed with injuries in a road mishap when a bus lost direction and fell from a bridge near Taptapani Ghati in Ganjam district of Odisha on Wednesday. The incident happened at about 3 am when the bus was traveling towards Berhampur from Tikri. No drinking water supply for 24 hours in Hyderabad

20 hurt as State Transport bus overturns on Mumbai-Goa Highway


At least 20 passengers of a state transport bus were injured when the vehicle overturned at Mangaon on Mumbai-Goa Highway on Saturday, police said. The accident occurred in the early hours, when the ST bus, carrying 44 passengers, was heading towards Dapoli, an official said. While crossing a bridge near Kamalje village, the driver lost control of the bus, causing the vehicle to hit a barricade and turn turtle, he said. At least 20 passengers were injured in the incident and were given preliminary treatment, he added.

Four-member gang held for smuggling ganja in Mahbubnagar


A four-member gang has been arrested on Thursday for smuggling ganja to Sri Lanka from Vishakapatnam. On January 4, the police recovered ganja from a car that rammed into a lorry while to Kurnool from Hyderabad. The police registered a case then and arrested four members. Disclosing the details, SP Rama Rajeshwari said that Satish and Kalyan, both hailing from Madurai in Tamil Nadu would smuggle the ganja. Satish and Kalyan with the help of Ramu, Murthy and Ram Reddy procured the ganja for Rs 6 per kg and were selling for Rs 11 kg in Hyderabad and Rs 12 per kg in Chennai.

The gang used to transport the contraband to Sri Lanka via Rameshwaram. On specific information that the gang was in Hyderabad, the police nabbed them. Satish, Kalyan, Ajit and Surendaram were sent to remand while a hunt was launched to nab Sivaneshwaram, Ramu, Murthy and Ram Reddy. The police seized 180 kg ganja worth Rs 21 lakh from them.

Two auto drivers perpetrate suicide in Vijayawada


In two different incidents, two auto drivers have committed suicide in Vijayawada. Going into details, an auto driver P Venkatadurga Rao (30), belongs to the Jakkampudi colony in Vijayawada has got married to Varalakshmi nine years ago. The couple has two sons. Two years ago, differences broke out between them and Varalakshmi left her husband and went to the parent’s house in Jojinagar along with her children.

Recently a month ago, she returned back to her husband’s place and she again went to her parents on the Sankranti festival and didn’t return back. Over this, Durga Rao became very upset and got addicted to alcohol. Last Tuesday night, he spoke with his mother Kumari for some time and went to sleep. The next day morning, when his mother brought tiffin for him and the door was locked from inside.

With the help of the locals, she opened the door and went into the house where she found him hanging in the kitchen room. Immediately, she lodged a complaint with the police station. In another incident, P Ganga Devi and her husband Durga Prasad resides at Priyadarshni convent street in the 30th division here in the city. The couple has two children.

Durga Prasad works as an auto driver. He has gone out on Tuesday and returned home under alcohol influence in the evening and slept on the roadside. On this, his wife confronted him and said to sleep inside the house and she went to her mother’s home in the neighborhood. When she returned home at 10 pm, she found Durga Prasad hanging himself in the living room. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, registered a case and investigating further.

BTech student held for sharing morphed photos of women online


A BTech student was arrested on Friday by the Rachakonda Cybercrime police for sharing the morphed photos of a woman on social networking platforms. N Akshay (20), who was pursuing engineering in a college in Narapally had sent a friend request from a fake ID. When the woman accepted his request, the accused downloaded the photos of the woman. He then morphed the pictures with the nude photos and sent her.

The accused set one of the morphed pictures as display picture and posted the remaining on the fake account. The police said Akshay also made video calls to her and later deleted the fake account when she rejected his calls. A complaint was lodged by the victim’s mother in November 2019 with the Cybercrime police. She stated that an unidentified man had shared her daughter’s morphed pictures on the social networking site. The police who investigated the case caught hold of the accused on Friday at Lalaguda.

Hyderabad Cop Caught Taking Rs 50,000


A policeman in Hyderabad was arrested on Wednesday after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 and two bottles of liquor.

Sub-inspector P Sudheer Reddy and his senior had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a businessman to release him on what is called a “station bail”. On a complaint, the Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap and caught the cop accepting the bribe inside the businessman’s car at the police station in the posh neighborhood of Jubilee Hills.

The businessman was named in a Rs 34,000 cheating case filed by a woman who owned a salon, alleging that his wife had availed beauty treatments and that the couple did not pay for them.

The two policemen had reportedly assured the man that they would help him in settling the case in a Lok Adalat or a people’s court.

“At Jubilee Hills, we have caught Sudheer Reddy red-handed while accepting the bribe amount and two liquor bottles,” senior police officer Achcheshwara Rao, DSP of the Anti-Corruption Bureau said.

The arrested policeman’s senior Balavantaiah, with whom he spoke to on the phone before accepting the bribe, has reportedly escaped and the police are looking for him. The two cops had negotiated with the businessman and agreed to accept Rs 50,000.

Leopard spotted at Telangana university in Nizamabad


Students of Telangana University in Dichpally of Nizamabad district said they spotted a Leopard near MCA block inside the campus in the early hours on Friday. After the students complained, the varsity registrar alerted the forest officials who are examining the campus to learn if it is on the prowl.

The officials launched a search of the animal in the nearby forest area. “We heard the roar during the morning walk and saw the animal close to us,” said a student Swamy adding that he alerted other MBA students in the area. As the buildings on the campus were near to the forest area, the students were scared of the animal.

Hyderabad: Fire breaks out in cell tower, none injured


A fire broke out in a cell tower located in the Gachibowli area of the city on Thursday evening.

According to Fire Department officials, the incident occurred around Six in the evening at the tower located on the main road near Nasr School, Gachibowli in the limits of Raidurgam police station.

While a short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire, it is yet to be ascertained with conformity. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Transgender commits suicide over love failure in Tamil Nadu


In an incident, a transgender has committed suicide by hanging herself near Erode in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The deceased identified as Murugesan alias Sushmita (22), belongs to Vinayaka temple street in Moolapalayam.

Sushmita made friendship with a 25-year-old young man of Veerappanchatram area in Erode, which later developed into a love affair. Then she started to pressure him to marry her. But he rejected her proposal. Over this, Sushmita became very upset and committed suicide by hanging herself to the fan, when there was no one in the house.

The family members noticed her and immediately rushed to the government hospital, where the doctors confirmed brought dead.
