Maoists Attack On BSF Jawans In Chhattisgarh

On Wednesday, Maoists targeted a bus carrying BSF jawans returning from assembly elections poll duty in Bijapur, Chattisgarh. Bijapur is just four kilometres away from Mahadev Ghat district headquarters. In this attack, one BSF Jawan died and four BSF Jawans are injured. These injured are immediately rushed to the Bijapur hospital. There are also one District Reserve Guard and a civilian injured in the attack.

The Maoists are asked the citizens to boycott the polling. But, the citizens used their votes at the polling center. Due to this, Maoists carried out the explosive devise blast aimed at the vehicle that carrying BSF jawans returning from the poll duty. This incident happened two days after the first phase of assembly election for 18 seats conducted on Monday.

The second phase of voting will be held on November 20 in Chhattisgarh. It was the ninth Maoist attack in 19 days in the state and the final stage of voting for 72 seats is scheduled for the second phase on 20th November. The Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) was patrolling the polling area. In two encounters, five COBRA jawans were injured by the Maoist attacks in Bijapur district. The results of Chhattisgarh polls will be declared on 11th December.
