GHMC Initiates ‘Clean Somajiguda’ Campaign:
To celebrate Raksha Bandhan, the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) initiated the ‘Swachh Somajiguda’ campaign on Thursday, aiming to promote the importance of maintaining clean streets and roads.
The GHMC team, comprising swachh autorickshaw drivers, sena members, sweepers, compactor vehicle operators, EVDM (enforcement & vigilance) staff, and disaster management vehicle personnel, participated in the initiative.
As part of the campaign, female sweepers tied rakhi to vendors and watchmen working in offices and apartments, urging them to help keep the roads free of litter and utilize clean vehicles. This activity took place in Kundanbagh, where they also engaged with residents, commercial establishments, and basti dwellers.
Waste materials from road-sweeping, including soil, leaves, and plastic litter, were carefully separated and stacked into compost rows located in a nearby garden. The majority of plastic and paper litter was collected for recycling purposes.
