Hyderabad on High Alert: Heatwave Forecasted for April

Date:

As the scorching sun beats down on Hyderabad, residents brace themselves for what meteorologists anticipate as a blistering April, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) raising concerns about an impending heatwave.

Dr. A. Shravani, a scientist at IMD-Hyderabad, issues a cautious warning, emphasizing the likelihood of temperatures sharply rising in the upcoming weeks. With daytime temperatures already soaring to a blistering 40 degrees Celsius, Hyderabadis prepare for even hotter days ahead.

Dr. Shravani predicts a temperature surge in the first week of April, followed by a temporary drop in the second week due to expected thunderstorm activity. However, she foresees temperatures rising once again in the third and fourth weeks, urging residents to remain vigilant.

The IMD scientist also alerts about the possibility of heatwave conditions gripping Telangana, including Hyderabad, with one or two instances expected in April. She advises residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the anticipated heatwave.

Recent temperature readings reflect a rapid escalation, with Hyderabad recording an average maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday. IMD forecasts project the average maximum temperature to range between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius over the next three days, indicating the intensification of the heatwave.
