In Bihar, a mob attacks a couple
A distressing incident occurred in Bihar’s Motihari district during broad daylight, where a couple was brutally beaten by a group of men, accusing them of having an illicit relationship. The incident was captured on video and was shared on Twitter by Union Minister Giriraj Singh.
In his tweet, the Union Minister criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and likened the incident to “Taliban punishment,” expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The video showed the men attacking the couple with sticks while onlookers surrounded them.
The situation escalated further when the mob handed sticks to the couple and compelled them to beat each other. The incident sparked outrage and caught the attention of the National Commission for Women (NCW), which took suo motu cognizance of the matter. The NCW expressed grave concern about the safety of women in the state and requested a detailed action taken report from the Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) within three days.
