An Indian origin yoga teacher nearly lost 12000 pounds when cheats broke open into his account on FB and made several transactions to an online gambling website.
Jasbir Mann runs a yoga studio in Warwickshire, found recently, around 110 fake transactions were made to a poker gambling website using his FB account. It is understood that he kept his debit card details saved on FB, to pay for advertising his business on the social media site. It costs 30 pounds.
Mann said he was surprised to find transactions, ranging between 21 and 215 pounds, made to an online poker game site in the month of September. He told the reports that he doesn’t gamble and do not know how to play poker but only indulge in an occasional lottery ticket.
On approaching the bank for help, his debit card was canceled. Mann removed his bank details from FB.
Within minutes of raising a dispute with the Facebook, the entire history of transactions got vanished to his utter shock, said, Mann. Later, FB began refunding some of the transactions, paying £5,747 of the stolen £11,878 back in 30 tranches.
I cannot believe Barclays and FB have taken so long to deal with my matter, I am just a yoga teacher, not a millionaire, quoted Mann. There was immense pressure coming from Telegraph Money, due to which FB finally refunded the remaining amount of £6,132 with no explanation.
According to a Facebook spokesperson, some kind of compromise, unfortunately, had taken place with the account and now full refund is made. Facebook got no answers to explain how the fraudsters got access to Mann’s account.
