Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 continues to make headlines with its impressive box-office performance. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action entertainer has reportedly crossed the Rs. 600 crore mark worldwide, according to trade estimates, and is eyeing a place among the biggest Tamil blockbusters.
Despite the film’s strong reported performance, production house Sun Pictures has not been releasing box-office collection posters regularly. The makers shared a collection update about a week after the film’s theatrical release, but their subsequent silence has left some fans wondering why more updates have not followed.
Rajinikanth’s public relations officer, Riaz, recently addressed the question during an interview. Explaining the Superstar’s approach to box-office figures, he said that many people had asked why authenticated collections for a Rajinikanth film were not being announced immediately.
According to Riaz, Rajinikanth’s primary concern is the satisfaction of the actors, producers, distributors, and audiences rather than the constant promotion of box-office numbers. He also indicated that the actor does not encourage inflated collection claims or insist that producers announce figures to generate publicity.
The explanation offers insight into Rajinikanth’s reported attitude towards box-office reporting. While collection posters have become a common promotional tool for major releases, Jailer 2 appears to be following a different approach, at least in terms of the frequency of its official updates.
With the film reportedly performing strongly at the box office, fans will be watching to see whether Sun Pictures releases further collection figures. The reported numbers, however, remain trade estimates unless officially confirmed by the makers.
