Jasprit Bumrah Welcomes Fatherhood!:
Jasprit Bumrah, a member of the Indian cricket team that competed against Nepal in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, has returned to Mumbai to be with his newborn son. His wife, Sanjana Ganesan, gave birth to their first child on Sunday.
The couple shared their joy on social media, saying, “Our little family has expanded, and our hearts are filled with immense happiness! This Morning, Angad Jasprit Bumrah Entered the World as Our Son. We are thrilled and excited about the new chapter in our lives.”
Bumrah is among several cricketers who have experienced the journey of becoming a father for the first time while participating in away tournaments. Some, like Bumrah, chose to return home promptly to embrace their growing families, while others fulfilled their professional commitments before reuniting with their newborns.
In 2015, former Team India captain MS Dhoni received news of his daughter Ziva’s birth during the World Cup tournament in Australia but decided to complete the tournament before heading home, emphasizing his dedication to national duties.
Five years later, Virat Kohli, another Indian cricket captain, prioritized family and immediately returned to India to be with his newborn daughter. In 2018, the current captain, Rohit Sharma, also chose to be with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and their baby girl, even if it meant missing the Sydney Test.
Bumrah’s decision to return for the birth of his first child has stirred some controversy in the media. Some fans have criticized him, suggesting that he had previously used the injury as an excuse to withdraw from matches and is now missing games due to family commitments.
One fan expressed disapproval by saying, “@Jaspritbumrah93, show some shame. First, you found excuses to be out due to injury, and now you’re not playing matches because of your wife and child.”
However, another fan defended Bumrah, emphasizing the importance of respecting individual choices in such deeply personal moments and acknowledging the complex emotions that athletes like him carry. Anticipated is Bumrah’s comeback for the tournament’s Super Stage.
