Kanchi Shankaracharya Passes Away At 82

Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham head, Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya passed away today morning at around 9:00 am in ABCD Hospital, Kanchi while being treated. The doctors have reported that the Jagadguru has been suffering from breathing related issues from the past few years. According to his disciples, Jayendra Saraswathi seemed like he was recovering last night. But his condition got worse today morning.
Jayendra Saraswathi was born as Subramanyam Mahadev Iyer in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu on 18th July 1935. He is the 69thpontiff (or head) of the ‘Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham’, in Kanchi. He was awarded the pontifical title Sri Jayendra Saraswathi on 22nd March 1954 by Chandrasekhara Saraswathi Swamigal, as his successor.
The spiritual guru has millions of followers both in India and abroad. Film Celebrities, politicians, sports personnel, and other eminent personalities often visit him for his divine grace and holy blessings. The Kanchi trust runs many schools, orphanage homes, CHILDS Trust hospitals, Hindu Mission Hospital, eye clinics, hospitals, and many other welfare institutions.
Sri Jayendra Saraswathi contributed immensely towards Hinduism. The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was established by Sri Adi Shankara in 482 BC.
