Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s crime action thriller Khalifa has made its digital debut following a disappointing theatrical run. Directed by Vysakh, the film is now available across multiple streaming platforms, giving viewers another opportunity to watch the movie at home.
The makers have opted for a wide OTT release, bringing Khalifa to six platforms across India and overseas markets. These include Amazon Prime Video, Aha, ManoramaMAX, Lionsgate Play, STARZPLAY and Simply South.
Telugu-speaking audiences can watch the film’s dubbed version on Aha and Amazon Prime Video. With its availability across several digital services, the makers are hoping to reach a broader audience beyond the film’s theatrical market.
Despite being promoted as a big-budget production in Malayalam cinema, Khalifa reportedly struggled to attract audiences to theatres and failed to meet box-office expectations. Its performance on streaming platforms will now determine whether it can find a wider audience through digital viewership.
The film features Malavika Sharma, Shammi Thilakan, Indrans, Suresh Oberoi, Renji Panicker and Mohini in important roles. The project also includes brief cameo appearances by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and actor Tovino Thomas.
With its arrival on multiple OTT platforms, Khalifa is now looking to gain renewed attention among fans of crime dramas and action thrillers.
