After being selected as the new captain of Delhi Daredevils team in IPL, everyone got to see a new Shreyas Iyer. In the last night match between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders, the young captain scored an unbeaten 93 from just 40 balls, which saw 10 sixes. In their 20 overs, Delhi Daredevils scored 219 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
The KKR Captain Dinesh Karthik had no idea what was in store for his bowlers. After winning the toss, he asked Shreyas Iyer, the DD captain, to bat first. DD Opening pair; Prithvi Shah (62) and Colin Munro (33) gave the DD much required blazing start for their first week. They managed to put 59 runs in 6.5 overs before Munro was bowled by Mavi.
Shreyas Iyer who came to bat ripped the KKR’s blowing attack. In the last over, he scored 28 runs, with 4 sixes and a four. Chasing a mammoth target of 220 runs, the KKR batsman succumbed to the pressure, thanks to the high asking rate. Except for Narine (28 from 9 balls), Shubham Gill (37 from 29 balls), and Russel (44 from 30 balls), rest all struggled to keep the pace with the required rate. KKR ended their innings at 164/9, losing by 55 runs to Delhi Daredevils.
