Sunrisers Hyderabad’s self-destructing batting line-up once again failed to deliver, resulting in a much-needed five-run victory for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL on Thursday. The victory ensured that Nitish Rana’s team stayed in contention in the tournament.
A score of KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Rana and Singh’s productive partnership of 61 runs helped KKR post a score of 171/9. Their bowlers, with notable performances by Shardul Thakur (2/23) and Vaibhav Arora (2/32), limited Sunrisers Hyderabad to 166/8 in 20 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy’s brilliant 20th over sealed the deal for KKR, securing a welcome win for his team.
KKR’s fourth victory of the season, now on eight points, boosted their playoff chances, while SRH suffered a huge setback, remaining stranded on six points and facing slim odds of making the playoffs.
