Looking at the recent trend of Telugu films, it is clear that the Telugu Film Industry will have a good future. Moving away from the typical stereotype movies, the new generation is coming up with new concepts and ideas. ‘London Babulu’ film is surely going to steal the hearts of the Telugu audience. The film is an official remake of Tamil movie ‘Aandavan Kattalai’.

Story:

Gandhi (Rakshith) is one among a gang of youngsters who dream to settle in life by working in abroad. Gandhi’s dream of going to London comes to a standstill after his visa gets rejected. He understands that the visa officer rejected his visa because he is a bachelor, assuming that it is common for a bachelor to settle permanently in the visiting country.

It is during this time Gandhi comes in touch with a girl called Suryakantham (Swathi). After Gandhi and Suryakantham meet, the story takes completely a different turn. The rest of the story is all about how the couple’s life goes ahead and will Gandhi accomplish his London dream or not.

Analysis:

The film’s director, Chinni Krishna’s films have been utter flops in the past. The film has been produced by Maruthi, who relies a lot on his ‘brand image’ for the success while producing small budget movies. The first 15 minutes of the film leaves many people confused. But with the introduction of Ali character, one can understand it is a deliberate move of the director. The first half is filled with laughs and giggles, while the second half unveils the sentiment and emotional quotient of the film. It is surprising the way Chinni Krishna has handled the script and narration all through the film. It is hard to believe that he directed few flop movies in the past. The best part of the whole film is, every character has a key role to play in the film. It feels as if the film would lose its essence, even one character in the film is ignored.

The screenplay and dialogues of the film are written by Chinni Krishna himself. Few dialogues are bound to invoke the emotions and sentiments of anyone watching the film.

The cast in the film should be praised for their acting abilities. Apart from a couple of scenes, nowhere in the film, we feel that Rakshith is a new actor. Swathi, who is known for her bubbliness excelled splendidly as Suryakantham. Ali is undoubtedly among the highlights of the film. Mentioning the names of Murali Sharma, Satya, Jeeva, Ajay Ghosh, Dhanraj, Priyadarsi, Venu, Raja Ravindra, Satya Krishnan might seem quite obvious. But they truly deserve the mention. Shyam K Naidu’s photography is another highlight in the film.

Plus Points:

  • Story, Screenplay, and Narration
  • Actors
  • Direction and Dialogues

Drawbacks:

Demands absolute concentration of the viewer to understand the film.
