Tourists fined Rs. 4425 for ‘indecent’ appearances!

Six Czech tourists have been reportedly fined Rs 4,500 and were arrested for wearing mankinis and publicly appearing in an indecent manner. This incident took place last week in the capital city of Astana, Kazakhstan after Six Czech tourist-group posted photos of their ‘appearance in mankinis’ on the streets of Astana.
The local media reported on Tuesday that each tourist has been fined a sum of 22,500 Tenge (or Rs. 4425 approximately) on the arrest. The ‘mankinis’ costume became popular after comedian Sacha Baron Cohen who played the role of Borat, a fictional Kazakh TV presenter.
The news sparked severe controversies in Kazakh and went viral on social media. The group of Czech tourists can be seen standing on the road wearing the manikins. The world media has perceived the act of the Czech group as ‘minor hooliganism’.In the past three Kazakh bloggers were jailed for 15 days on charges of ‘minor hooliganism’.
Kazakhstan is the central Asian country and world’s largest landlocked country surrounded by Russia in the North and East, China in the west, Uzbekistan in the South and the Caspian Sea in the south-west. Kazakhstan became an Independent State after it gained independence from the Soviet Republic on 16th December 1991.
