Lionel Messi, a World Cup champion, continued his impressive scoring streak with Inter Miami by netting his eighth goal in five matches. This helped Inter Miami secure a 4-0 victory over Charlotte and advance to the Leagues Cup semifinals.
The match saw Josef Martinez put Inter Miami in the lead through a penalty kick, followed by Finnish winger Robert Taylor doubling the advantage by skillfully converting a cross from Deandre Yedlin. Adilson Malanda’s own goal added to Inter Miami’s tally, and Lionel Messi sealed the victory by calmly finishing a cross from Leonardo Campana from close range.
The match took place at the DRV PNL Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. As a result of this win, Inter Miami will face Philadelphia in an away match on Tuesday to compete for a spot in the final.
