#MeToo Movement

Recently, MeToo movement has been started by the victims. So, many celebrities are coming forward to say about the sexual assaults and harassment which were happened against them. #MeToo spread virally in October 2017 as a hashtag used on social media in an attempt to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. Tarana Burke, an American social activist, and community organizer began using the phrase “Me Too” as early as 2006, and the phrase was later popularized by American actress Alyssa Milano, on Twitter in 2017.

Now, it is going viral in India and mostly in the film industry. A few weeks back, actress Thanu Sree put allegations on the actor Nana Patekar. According to her allegations, in the past, they did a movie together and while doing the movie she has faced some sexual assaults from Nana Patekar. So, started from her allegations and now it is converted as a movement in Indian film industry. Many female artists from different film industries are sharing their bitter memories through social media with hashtag MeToo.

Very well-known faces are facing the allegations from the victims and the daily news updates making the common people shock. However, the past incidents are coming forward by this movement. So, some celebrities supporting the victims and standing for the MeToo movement. But, some are not accepting all allegations, so they are hesitating the allegations. In the wake of this situation, the well-known director Ram Gopal Varma has come onto the line to speak about it. He posted a video for supporting Nana Patekar and expressed his perception.
