Tovino Thomas to play triple role in ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’

Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas, whose superhero film ‘Minnal Murali went on to become a superhit, is to play a triple role in his next film, ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’.

This will be the first time that Tovino will be playing a triple role in a film.

Directed by debutant Jitin Lal, the story of the film, which will have Tovino playing three characters, will revolve around three eras.

The titular characters — namely Maniyan, Ajayan, and Kunjikelu — are all being played by Tovino.

Sujith Nambiar has penned the story and screenplay of the film, which went on the floors on Tuesday with a traditional pooja.

Sources say that ‘Ajayante Random Moshanam’ is to be released in 3D. Kriti Shetty, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Surabhi Lakshmi have been roped in to play the female leads. Interestingly, this will be actress Kriti Shetty’s first Malayalam film.

Other actors who will be seen in important roles in the film include Basil Joseph, Kishore, Harish Uttaman, Harish Peradi, and Jagadish.

The big-budget film is being produced by UGM Productions and Magic Frames.

Deepu Nainan Thomas will be scoring the music for this film, which will feature a lot of Kalari sequences. Sources say that Tovino Thomas recently underwent training in Kalari for the film.

Big B has always inspired me, says Rajinikanth

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth joined several stars from the South in wishing Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan a very happy birthday as the Shahenshah of Bollywood turned 80 on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter, Rajinikanth, who has been good friends with the Bollywood legend, wrote: “The legend… Someone who has inspired me always. The one true sensation and superhero of our glorious Indian film fraternity enters 80. Happy birthday my dearest and most respected Amitabh Ji. With lots of love and best regards always.”

Rajinikanth wasn’t the only star from the south to say that he had been inspired by the legend.

Telugu star Ram Charan, who is also the son of Megastar Chiranjeevi, too wished the legend on the occasion of his birthday and said that he too had been inspired by him.

Ram Charan tweeted: “Happy Birthday Bachchan Garu! Thank you for being an institution of acting and goodwill. Always inspired by you!”

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly too was among the first to wish Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter. Posting a picture of himself with Amitabh Bachchan, he tweeted: “Happy Birthday Sir, wishing you a long life ahead and many more blockbusters ahead.”

What endears Big B to Indian families

Copying film actors and stars is nothing new, but when parents and elders tell you to learn from one is something surprising. Rarely does one come across a personality from the film industry whom the common families love to present as an example before the youngsters, in particular? Amitabh Bachchan fits this idea for a typical Indian family that loves to cling on to benevolent values and duties.

Big B, for millions in India, represents the epitome of humanity, simplicity but full of grace, patience, kind-heartedness, and above all so much rooted to culture and yet open for change. This is best manifested by the immense popularity of his KBC show. The fact that there were other stars, who tried to anchor the show and those similar to it could not last long, proves Big B’s aura to pull the audience with his modesty, both in words and deeds.

At an age when most retire to a very quiet and uneventful phase which is mostly spent in and out of hospitals and with doctor’s advice, this tall man amazes the young and old with his energy, dedication, and passion. It is not that he has no ailments, but his strength and never-diminishing will do is what sets him apart from the rest. Sitting in the KBC chair, he is a friend to all contestants, humbly treating all and making the people around him feel that they are king-like.

What endears Bachchan to all, especially the middle class is the way he approaches people. All women are Devis to him and their mothers as Mataji, no matter whether the Mataji may be half his age and a similar goes for the men, who are ‘sajano (gentlemen)’. He uses “aap” for all and even though the person may be like his grandson, it is never “tu” for anyone. It is “aabhar (thankful)”, and “abhinandan (greetings)”, etc. words that parents and elders want the children to learn. Whenever he mentions his parents, there is a kind of reverence that his expressions and words manifest. This is something that touches people’s hearts making them feel that he is real and not just a makeup-laden actor.

Big B has seen his popularity soar with the TV show at an age when most of his counterparts have very little work on hand or the common 80-year-old crowd has almost no dreams to pursue. He had his share of initial ups and downs, but ‘Zanjeer’ in 1973 catapulted him out of nowhere to the big league and the youth discovered their agitative emotions in him. The ‘Angry Man’ became the symbol of the then-restless youth. The 1970s, ’80 and a bit of 1990s were his, but it was the 2000s that saw him again come up after a series of failed ventures and miserably flopped movies.

When all had written him off, he was again catapulted from the depths of failures to the national stage, first through KBC and then a series of movies where his performances were too remarkable to go unnoticed. Amitabh Bachchan was back in the new Avatar, the Big B of Bollywood.

A child in ‘Paa’, the nagging father in ‘Piku’, the stubborn teacher in ‘Black’, the 102-year-old father of 75-year-old Rishi Kapoor in comic ‘102 Not Out’, or the striking role of a retired lawyer in ‘Pink’. These are just a few, there are so many others like the ‘Sarkar’, etc.

Each of these roles is a masterpiece, with a certain message. ‘Pink’ gave the voice to millions of women, who got the phenomenal statement in that conspicuous word “No”, which the retired lawyer so effectively uttered during the courtroom scene. “No means no” — the three words struck a chord with young women who want to enjoy life as individuals with liberty. The courtroom drama was well appreciated and Amitabh Bachchan as lawyer Deepak forces one to face up to some uncomfortable truths of society.

Before ‘Pink’, ‘Baghban’ touched the raw nerve of the people which showed how elders are treated as a burden by their children. Many related themselves to the movie characters.

If the ’70s and the 80’s movies of the Big B were mostly about anger, action, and show, the 2000s has seen his superb acting skills in movies, and remarkable and unparalleled hosting for the TV programme.

At an age when memory for most is failing and bone and muscle health is declining, Big B presents an example that proves it’s all about attitude and willpower.

There is no stopping this legend. He has proven that age is just a number and this is just what the people are loving him for.

On his 80th birthday, the living legend is all the more towering and humbler.

If you don’t get the right vibe, cut them out from your life, says actress Pranitha

Actress Pranitha has suggested to her fans and followers that they either take a step back or completely cut off from people from whom they don’t get the right vibes.

Taking to Instagram recently, the actress said: “This is especially for postpartum mammas because it’s a very emotional and sensitive phase which no one will understand.”

Taking a leaf from her personal experience, she mentioned: “I’ve made that mistake of trying to be a people pleaser and it has backfired sometimes. One piece of advice I can give new mammas or in fact, anyone is … if you are not getting the right vibe from someone, make sure you cut them out of your life or make sure you take a step back.”

“It will be hard. There are times when people have wondered if I was ‘avoiding’ them. But if it makes you happier, then do it. You’re not obligated to hang out with anyone out there. Also so glad my husband has been so supportive of me through things like these,” her post further stated.

Making an important point, she concluded her post by saying: “It’s very hard to tell if someone is being toxic but if you feel uneasy after meeting them if you find yourself trying to remember everything you said while you were with them, etc, it clearly means the vibe wasn’t healthy.”

Chiranjeevi-starrer ‘Godfather’ collects Rs 69 crore worldwide in two days

Director Mohan Raja’s ‘GodFather’, featuring superstar Chiranjeevi in the lead, has grossed an impressive Rs 69 crore worldwide in two days.

Sources in the industry say that the lavishly-made political action thriller, which took a grand opening for Dussehra, dominated the box office on day two as well.

The movie is expected to record massive numbers during the extended weekend.

The film, which has Salman Khan appearing in a brief but powerful role, seems to be performing reasonably well, with positive reports coming in from almost everywhere.

‘GodFather’, which collected a worldwide gross of Rs 38 crore on its opening day, has raked in Rs 31 crore on its second day. The total amount it has grossed worldwide after two days stands at Rs 69 crore.

The makers believe that as the Dussehra holidays are still on, the numbers will continue to be massive even during the weekend.

The film’s story is quite gripping as it revolves around the power struggle in a political party soon after the death of the state’s Chief Minister. While the Chief Minister’s daughter (Nayanthara) is not interested, his son-in-law (Satya Dev), and a few others in the party are at the heart of a power grab.

The film has cinematography by Nirav Shah and music by Thaman.
